When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”


gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.


Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.


An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.


but hospitable, a lover of goodness, master of himself, upright, holy, and self-controlled;


Bid the older men be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.


Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe;


In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.


Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.


and to an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,


And when the chief Shepherd is manifested you will obtain the unfading crown of glory.


and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,


Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.


I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
