therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘He who believes will not be in haste.’


And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.


According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and another man is building upon it. Let each man take care how he builds upon it.


Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—


built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,


But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”


Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious;
