They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat.


They have mouths, but they speak not, they have eyes, but they see not,


They lift it upon their shoulders, they carry it, they set it in its place, and it stands there; it cannot move from its place. If one cries to it, it does not answer or save him from his trouble.


Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, and they cannot speak; they have to be carried, for they cannot walk. Be not afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.”


Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”


And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.


Formerly, when you did not know God, you were in bondage to beings that by nature are no gods;


For they themselves report concerning us what a welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God,


For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another;


You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,


Let the time that is past suffice for doing what the Gentiles like to do, living in licentiousness, passions, drunkenness, revels, carousing, and lawless idolatry.
