20 and when they received help against them, the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hands, for they cried to God in the battle, and he granted their entreaty because they trusted in him.

And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is surely the king of Israel.” So they turned to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out.


They carried off their livestock: fifty thousand of their camels, two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, two thousand asses, and a hundred thousand men alive.


For many fell slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their place until the exile.


Thus the men of Israel were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord, the God of their fathers.


And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel.” So they turned to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him. God drew them away from him,


O our God, wilt thou not execute judgment upon them? For we are powerless against this great multitude that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon thee.”


God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabs that dwelt in Gurbaal, and against the Me-unites.


He prayed to him, and God received his entreaty and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.


So we fasted and besought our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.


The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their refuge in the time of trouble.


The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked, and saves them, because they take refuge in him.


God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.


And those who know thy name put their trust in thee, for thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek thee.


Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.


The fear of man lays a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord is safe.


For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but you shall have your life as a prize of war, because you have put your trust in me, says the Lord.’ ”


Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of hurt was found upon him, beause he had trusted in his God.


The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.
