He thus hath said within his heart, The Lord hath quite forgot; He hides his countenance, and he for ever sees it not.


Why is it that the wicked man thus doth the Lord despise? Because that God will it require he in his heart denies.


The wicked, through his pride of face, on God he doth not call; And in the counsels of his heart the Lord is not at all.


The men whose hearts with pride are stuff'd did greatly me deride; Yet from thy straight commandements I have not turn'd aside.


The men that are puff 'd up with pride against me forg'd a lie; Yet thy commandements observe with my whole heart will I.


The proud have digged pits for me, which is against thy laws.


These workers of iniquity do they not know at all, That they my people eat as bread, and on God do not call?


The proud for me a snare have hid, and cords; yea, they a net Have by the way-side for me spread; they gins for me have set.


The wicked man's transgression within my heart thus says, Undoubtedly the fear of God is not before his eyes.


Let not the foot of cruel pride come, and against me stand; And let me not removed be, Lord, by the wicked's hand.


For they that strangers are to me do up against me rise; Oppressors seek my soul, and God set not before their eyes.


Unto mine enemies he shall mischief and ill repay: O for thy truth's sake cut them off, and sweep them clean away.
