Lord, hear the right, attend my cry, unto my pray'r give heed, That doth not in hypocrisy from feigned lips proceed.


When as I did refrain my speech, and silent was my tongue, My bones then waxed old, because I roared all day long.


I troubled am, and much bow'd down; all day I mourning go.


For thou the God art of my strength; why thrusts thou me thee fro'? For th' enemy's oppression why do I mourning go?


When I to thee my prayer make, Lord, to my voice give ear; My life save from the enemy, of whom I stand in fear.


But surely God me heard, and to my prayer's voice gave ear.


I to remembrance God did call, yet trouble did remain; And overwhelm'd my spirit was, whilst I did sore complain.
