More than they that for morning watch, my soul waits for the Lord; I say, more than they that do watch the morning light to see.


All day, my God, to thee I cry, yet am not heard by thee; And in the season of the night I cannot silent be.


My lovers and my friends do stand at distance from my sore; And those do stand aloof that were kinsmen and kind before.


Mine eyes, debarr'd from rest and sleep, thou makest still to wake; My trouble is so great that I unable am to speak.
