Do not now be stiff-necked as your ancestors were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve the Lord your God, so that his fierce anger may turn away from you.


The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak justice.


Rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.


let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.


Know that all lives are mine; the life of the parent as well as the life of the child is mine: it is only the person who sins that shall die.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.


So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.


Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?


I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness for sanctification.


but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.


While we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.


Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!


For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.


Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites,


for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments


For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died.


And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.


and this, not merely as we expected; they gave themselves first to the Lord and, by the will of God, to us,


even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved—


for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”


For all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, are abhorrent to the Lord your God.


It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now as always in my body, whether by life or by death.


And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses,


Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).


so that all who have not believed the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned.


Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.


Those conflicts and disputes among you, where do they come from? Do they not come from your cravings that are at war within you?


He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.


so as to live for the rest of your earthly life no longer by human desires but by the will of God.


If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
