Therefore I send you prophets, sages, and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,


And the one with the two talents also came forward, saying, ‘Master, you handed over to me two talents; see, I have made two more talents.’


Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’


Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler, and Saul.


Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers.


‘In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.


He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.


For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you—


For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.


But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.


And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.


Pursue love and strive for the spiritual gifts, and especially that you may prophesy.


But if all prophesy, an unbeliever or outsider who enters is reproved by all and called to account by all.


Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.


What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each.


I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has a particular gift from God, one having one kind and another a different kind.


For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.


In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:


The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,


Let those of us then who are mature be of the same mind; and if you think differently about anything, this too God will reveal to you.


Do not despise the words of prophets,


First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation,
