While Jeroboam was standing by the altar to offer incense, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel


Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.


I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.


You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,


Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place,


He will become a sanctuary, a stone one strikes against; for both houses of Israel he will become a rock one stumbles over—a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.


Therefore say: Thus says the Lord God: Though I removed them far away among the nations, and though I scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary to them for a little while in the countries where they have gone.


Are you not from of old, O Lord my God, my Holy One? You shall not die. O Lord, you have marked them for judgment; and you, O Rock, have established them for punishment.


Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.


This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


He subdues the ancient gods, shatters the forces of old; he drove out the enemy before you, and said, “Destroy!”


But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.


So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
