Let their own eyes see their destruction, and let them drink of the wrath of the Almighty.


On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulfur; a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.


You have made your people suffer hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us reel.


Therefore the people turn and praise them, and find no fault in them.


Those who linger late over wine, those who keep trying mixed wines.


Ah, you who are heroes in drinking wine and valiant at mixing drink,


Rouse yourself, rouse yourself! Stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, who have drunk to the dregs the bowl of staggering.


Thus says your Sovereign, the Lord, your God who pleads the cause of his people: See, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering; you shall drink no more from the bowl of my wrath.


For thus the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me: Take from my hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it.


So I took the cup from the Lord's hand, and made all the nations to whom the Lord sent me drink it:


you shall drink it and drain it out, and gnaw its sherds, and tear out your breasts; for I have spoken, says the Lord God.


The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered great Babylon and gave her the wine-cup of the fury of his wrath.


The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts.
