The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God,


So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.


Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by.


Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise up against me.


See, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.


So the Lord said to Moses, “Gather for me seventy of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tent of meeting, and have them take their place there with you.


Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,


When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus in order to bring about his death.


When they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and went on with their teaching. When the high priest and those with him arrived, they called together the council and the whole body of the elders of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
