There the evildoers lie prostrate; they are thrust down, unable to rise.


The wicked watch for the righteous, and seek to kill them.


those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?


Let death come upon them; let them go down alive to Sheol; for evil is in their homes and in their hearts.


But you, O God, will cast them down into the lowest pit; the bloodthirsty and treacherous shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.


Confuse, O Lord, confound their speech; for I see violence and strife in the city.


for no fault of mine, they run and make ready. Rouse yourself, come to my help and see!


No one has power over the wind to restrain the wind, or power over the day of death; there is no discharge from the battle, nor does wickedness deliver those who practice it.


Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have an agreement; when the overwhelming scourge passes through it will not come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have taken shelter”;


Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not know you, and on the peoples that do not call on your name; for they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

Your eyes are too pure to behold evil, and you cannot look on wrongdoing; why do you look on the treacherous, and are silent when the wicked swallow those more righteous than they?
