Deliver me, please, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I am afraid of him; he may come and kill us all, the mothers with the children.


When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel.” So they turned to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him. God drew them away from him,


With the Lord on my side I do not fear. What can mortals do to me?


If it had not been the Lord who was on our side —let Israel now say—


if it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us,


In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me?


God has promised in his sanctuary: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem, and portion out the Vale of Succoth.


Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.


so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us.


Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature.
