Then David said to all his officials who were with him at Jerusalem, “Get up! Let us flee, or there will be no escape for us from Absalom. Hurry, or he will soon overtake us, and bring disaster down upon us, and attack the city with the edge of the sword.”


When I think of it I am dismayed, and shuddering seizes my flesh.


For the arrows of the Almighty are in me; my spirit drinks their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.


My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.


In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.


and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.


From the end of the earth I call to you, when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I;
