He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;


and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stopped’?


The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of perdition assailed me;


And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.


For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.


I looked on the mountains, and lo, they were quaking, and all the hills moved to and fro.


Do you not fear me? says the Lord; Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail, though they roar, they cannot pass over it.


Then the mountains will melt under him and the valleys will burst open, like wax near the fire, like waters poured down a steep place.


The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who live in it.


The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.


And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found;


And he said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the whore is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.
