The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,


With open mouth I pant, because I long for your commandments.


We have heard with our ears, O God, our ancestors have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:


My heart overflows with a goodly theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.


God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.


Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy.


Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain,


Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world,


Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob.


On the holy mount stands the city he founded;


O Lord, God of my salvation, when, at night, I cry out in your presence,


The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.


Now Korah son of Izhar son of Kohath son of Levi, along with Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—descendants of Reuben—took


The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, along with their households—everyone who belonged to Korah and all their goods.


Notwithstanding, the sons of Korah did not die.
