They have gaped at me with their mouths; they have struck me insolently on the cheek; they mass themselves together against me.


God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me;


“And now my soul is poured out within me; days of affliction have taken hold of me.


I can count all my bones. They stare and gloat over me;


For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my misery, and my bones waste away.


They open wide their mouths against me; they say, “Aha, Aha, our eyes have seen it.”


As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, let the wicked perish before God.


All our enemies have opened their mouths against us;


Then the king's face turned pale, and his thoughts terrified him. His limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together.


Devastation, desolation, and destruction! Hearts faint and knees tremble, all loins quake, all faces grow pale!


Then he said to them, “I am deeply grieved, even to death; remain here, and stay awake with me.”
