For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he perceives from far away.


with the pure you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you show yourself perverse.


I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when panic strikes you,


Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy God's favor.


It is better to be of a lowly spirit among the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.


Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and flogging for the backs of fools.


The proud, haughty person, named “Scoffer,” acts with arrogant pride.


If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scoff, you alone will bear it.


For thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.


But he gives all the more grace; therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”


In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
