“The man, the lord of the land, spoke harshly to us, and charged us with spying on the land.


When Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he treated them like strangers and spoke harshly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”


The king answered the people harshly. He disregarded the advice that the older men had given him


The king answered them harshly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men;


Will it make many supplications to you? Will it speak soft words to you?


But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should heed him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.”


If the poor are hated even by their kin, how much more are they shunned by their friends! When they call after them, they are not there.


The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.


All these things my hand has made, and so all these things are mine, says the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look, to the humble and contrite in spirit, who trembles at my word.


“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


and if you take notice of the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Have a seat here, please,” while to the one who is poor you say, “Stand there,” or, “Sit at my feet,”


But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into court?

But Nabal answered David's servants, “Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who are breaking away from their masters.


Now therefore know this and consider what you should do; for evil has been decided against our master and against all his house; he is so ill-natured that no one can speak to him.”
