So the present passed on ahead of him; and he himself spent that night in the camp.


Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: take some of the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry them down as a present to the man—a little balm and a little honey, gum, resin, pistachio nuts, and almonds.


He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters.


Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and nothing is hid from its heat.


Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.


The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.


You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the officials, and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.


The wicked accept a concealed bribe to pervert the ways of justice.


A gift opens doors; it gives access to the great.


A gift in secret averts anger; and a concealed bribe in the bosom, strong wrath.


Surely oppression makes the wise foolish, and a bribe corrupts the heart.


Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not defend the orphan, and the widow's cause does not come before them.


For I know how many are your transgressions, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and push aside the needy in the gate.


Their hands are skilled to do evil; the official and the judge ask for a bribe, and the powerful dictate what they desire; thus they pervert justice.


You must not distort justice; you must not show partiality; and you must not accept bribes, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.
