“If I have rejoiced at the ruin of those who hated me, or exulted when evil overtook them—


It is zeal for your house that has consumed me; the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.


Those who despise their neighbors are sinners, but happy are those who are kind to the poor.


Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor him.


All those who are arrogant are an abomination to the Lord; be assured, they will not go unpunished.


But I have not run away from being a shepherd in your service, nor have I desired the fatal day. You know what came from my lips; it was before your face.


Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God, Because you said, “Aha!” over my sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when it went into exile;


For the slaughter and violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever.
