So the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This can only be sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid.


Anxiety weighs down the human heart, but a good word cheers it up.


A tranquil mind gives life to the flesh, but passion makes the bones rot.


All the days of the poor are hard, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.


A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.


The human spirit will endure sickness; but a broken spirit—who can bear?


“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.

so now instead you should forgive and console him, so that he may not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.


For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.
