One who is quick-tempered acts foolishly, and the schemer is hated.


The evil bow down before the good, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.


The wise will inherit honor, but stubborn fools, disgrace.


O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: Our ancestors have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.


Instead, we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out libations to her, just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials, used to do in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. We used to have plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no misfortune.


Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.


From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.


You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,


And when the chief shepherd appears, you will win the crown of glory that never fades away.
