Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred of them, and said to them, “Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” They said, “Go up; for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”


so that the godless should not reign, or those who ensnare the people.


Such are the paths of all who forget God; the hope of the godless shall perish.


It is not enemies who taunt me— I could bear that; it is not adversaries who deal insolently with me— I could hide from them.


The righteousness of the upright saves them, but the treacherous are taken captive by their schemes.


The righteous are delivered from trouble, and the wicked get into it instead.


The violent entice their neighbors, and lead them in a way that is not good.


“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.


“But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains;


Some even from your own group will come distorting the truth in order to entice the disciples to follow them.


I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and you know that no lie comes from the truth.


As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.
