My child, if sinners entice you, do not consent.


my child, do not walk in their way, keep your foot from their paths;


My child, if you accept my words and treasure up my commandments within you,


Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.


My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;


The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures.


The words of King Lemuel. An oracle that his mother taught him:


I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.


My child, keep your father's commandment, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
