To show partiality is not good— yet for a piece of bread a person may do wrong.


My people—children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you, and confuse the course of your paths.


They plan to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, just as their ancestors forgot my name for Baal.


See, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says the Lord, and who tell them, and who lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or appoint them; so they do not profit this people at all, says the Lord.


They have treated the wound of my people carelessly, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.


“Prepare war against her; up, and let us attack at noon!” “Woe to us, for the day declines, the shadows of evening lengthen!”


Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen oracles for you that are false and misleading.


My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations; they shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord God.


You shall stumble by day; the prophet also shall stumble with you by night, and I will destroy your mother.


Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war, stir up the warriors. Let all the soldiers draw near, let them come up.


If someone were to go about uttering empty falsehoods, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” such a one would be the preacher for this people!


Its rulers give judgment for a bribe, its priests teach for a price, its prophets give oracles for money; yet they lean upon the Lord and say, “Surely the Lord is with us! No harm shall come upon us.”


But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts,


Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if one blind person guides another, both will fall into a pit.”


“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.


For such people do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.
