“Why do we fast, but you do not see? Why humble ourselves, but you do not notice?” Look, you serve your own interest on your fast day, and oppress all your workers.


And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord! Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say, “We are free, we will come to you no more”?


When he began the reckoning, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him;


saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’


so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’


But his master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy slave! You knew, did you, that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter?


“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.


But he answered his father, ‘Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends.


He summoned ten of his slaves, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’


“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I tell you?


For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law—indeed it cannot,


But who indeed are you, a human being, to argue with God? Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, “Why have you made me like this?”
