So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.


If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son?”


When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any question.


When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.


But they were silent. So Jesus took him and healed him, and sent him away.


And they could not reply to this.


For they no longer dared to ask him another question.


When they saw the man who had been cured standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.


‘I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look.
