And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.


At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants;


and said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.


And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.


“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.


Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”


Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking; rather, be infants in evil, but in thinking be adults.


but he said to me, ‘You shall conceive and bear a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the boy shall be a nazirite to God from birth to the day of his death.’ ”


She made this vow: “O Lord of hosts, if only you will look on the misery of your servant, and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a male child, then I will set him before you as a nazirite until the day of his death. He shall drink neither wine nor intoxicants, and no razor shall touch his head.”


But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “As soon as the child is weaned, I will bring him, that he may appear in the presence of the Lord, and remain there forever; I will offer him as a nazirite for all time.”


When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine. She brought him to the house of the Lord at Shiloh; and the child was young.


Samuel was ministering before the Lord, a boy wearing a linen ephod.
