And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out—beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”


Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us. Indeed, he has done nothing to deserve death.


In the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was ruler of Galilee, and his brother Philip ruler of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias ruler of Abilene,


But Herod the ruler, who had been rebuked by him because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and because of all the evil things that Herod had done,


and Joanna, the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.


About that time King Herod laid violent hands upon some who belonged to the church.


Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler, and Saul.
