And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.


And he said to them, “I am deeply grieved, even to death; remain here, and keep awake.”


He came and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep awake one hour?


And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.


Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”


When he reached the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not come into the time of trial.”


and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial.”


Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.


For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want.


Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;


Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.


Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
