Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment.


For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?


But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ all the people will stone us; for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”


Even tax collectors came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?”


I tell you, among those born of women no one is greater than John; yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”


Nevertheless, wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”


He had been instructed in the Way of the Lord; and he spoke with burning enthusiasm and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.


Then he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They answered, “Into John's baptism.”


For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they have not submitted to God's righteousness.


And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb: “Great and amazing are your deeds, Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, King of the nations!


And I heard the angel of the waters say, “You are just, O Holy One, who are and were, for you have judged these things;


Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has paid me back.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
