15 He shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the curtain, and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it upon the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.

The Lord said to Moses: Tell your brother Aaron not to come just at any time into the sanctuary inside the curtain before the mercy seat that is upon the ark, or he will die; for I appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.


He shall carry the bull outside the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering for the assembly.


The anointed priest shall take some of the blood of the bull and bring it into the tent of meeting.


Moses did so; just as the Lord commanded him, so he did.


And there shall be one male goat for a sin offering to the Lord; it shall be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.


Therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people.


and because of this he must offer sacrifice for his own sins as well as for those of the people.


We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain,


Unlike the other high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself.

but only the high priest goes into the second, and he but once a year, and not without taking the blood that he offers for himself and for the sins committed unintentionally by the people.
