We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy cloth. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.


Blindly they wandered through the streets, so defiled with blood that no one was able to touch their garments.


and all who sleep in the house shall wash their clothes; and all who eat in the house shall wash their clothes.


Everything made of cloth or of skin on which the semen falls shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the evening.


I overthrew some of you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a brand snatched from the fire; yet you did not return to me, says the Lord.


in order to make my own people jealous, and thus save some of them.


Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”


If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved, but only as through fire.


Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences.


Take note of those who do not obey what we say in this letter; have nothing to do with them, so that they may be ashamed.

Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich; and white robes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.


Yet you have still a few persons in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes; they will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.
