I will not show partiality to any person or use flattery toward anyone.


who shows no partiality to nobles, nor regards the rich more than the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?


They grumbled in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the Lord.


in whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear the Lord; who stand by their oath even to their hurt;


They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.


They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.


To show partiality is not good— yet for a piece of bread a person may do wrong.


And those who err in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will accept instruction.


You shall not render an unjust judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbor.


And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report about the land—


Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against the Lord. What is Aaron that you rail against him?”


On the next day, however, the whole congregation of the Israelites rebelled against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.”


And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.”


All who saw it began to grumble and said, “He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.”

But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you?

Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.


And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.


you grumbled in your tents and said, “It is because the Lord hates us that he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to hand us over to the Amorites to destroy us.


Do all things without murmuring and arguing,


not with lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;


and wrangling among those who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.


For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires,


Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance.


Beloved, I urge you as aliens and exiles to abstain from the desires of the flesh that wage war against the soul.


so as to live for the rest of your earthly life no longer by human desires but by the will of God.


—especially those who indulge their flesh in depraved lust, and who despise authority. Bold and willful, they are not afraid to slander the glorious ones,


For they speak bombastic nonsense, and with licentious desires of the flesh they entice people who have just escaped from those who live in error.


First of all you must understand this, that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and indulging their own lusts


to execute judgment on all, and to convict everyone of all the deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”


for they said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, indulging their own ungodly lusts.”
