The Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you made before me; I have consecrated this house that you have built, and put my name there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time.


David built there an altar to the Lord and presented burnt offerings and offerings of well-being. He called upon the Lord, and he answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.


Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the Lord God and here the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”


but I have chosen Jerusalem in order that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’


Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.


For now I have chosen and consecrated this house so that my name may be there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time.


For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation:


but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.


Thus says the Lord: Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is my resting place?


but they did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem.


Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well, and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?”


When the Lord your God has brought you into the land that you are entering to occupy, you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.


When you have crossed over the Jordan, these shall stand on Mount Gerizim for the blessing of the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
