For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. My hands and feet have shriveled;


then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.”


“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”


saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles;


The Jews took up stones again to stone him.


The Jews answered, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you, but for blasphemy, because you, though only a human being, are making yourself God.”


I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But it is to fulfill the scripture, ‘The one who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’


Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law.” The Jews replied, “We are not permitted to put anyone to death.”


(He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, “Follow me.”


And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,


So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me.


While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”


Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—


his corpse must not remain all night upon the tree; you shall bury him that same day, for anyone hung on a tree is under God's curse. You must not defile the land that the Lord your God is giving you for possession.
