The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what they stumble over.


O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!


Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery paths in the darkness, into which they shall be driven and fall; for I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment, says the Lord.


They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”


But those who walk at night stumble, because the light is not in them.”


Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Those who walk during the day do not stumble, because they see the light of this world.


While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light.” After Jesus had said this, he departed and hid from them.


I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness.


“A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me.”


Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.


Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”


But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, that same veil is still there, since only in Christ is it set aside.


So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.


For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light—
