seat two scoundrels opposite him, and have them bring a charge against him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out, and stone him to death.”


I say, “You are gods, children of the Most High, all of you;


Take the blasphemer outside the camp; and let all who were within hearing lay their hands on his head, and let the whole congregation stone him.


One who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; the whole congregation shall stone the blasphemer. Aliens as well as citizens, when they blaspheme the Name, shall be put to death.


So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”


Jesus replied, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these are you going to stone me?”


The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God.”


For this reason the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because he was not only breaking the sabbath, but was also calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God.


Let every person be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God.
