that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless is but for a moment?


“See, God will not reject a blameless person, nor take the hand of evildoers.


He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap,


but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.


All the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord. I bring low the high tree, I make high the low tree; I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. I the Lord have spoken; I will accomplish it.


Do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our ancestor’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham.


He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them he has set the world.
