dread came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake.


It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice:


you make the winds your messengers, fire and flame your ministers.


and they will be dismayed. Pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame.


He said to me, “Daniel, greatly beloved, pay attention to the words that I am going to speak to you. Stand on your feet, for I have now been sent to you.” So while he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling.


Then the king's face turned pale, and his thoughts terrified him. His limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together.


But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.


Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?


Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.”
