Then Judah acknowledged them and said, “She is more in the right than I, since I did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not lie with her again.


I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me.


That person sings to others and says, ‘I sinned, and perverted what was right, and it was not paid back to me.


“For has anyone said to God, ‘I have endured punishment; I will not offend any more;


who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’


But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults.


Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.


I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.


No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.


I have given heed and listened, but they do not speak honestly; no one repents of wickedness, saying, “What have I done!” All of them turn to their own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.


O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; your faithfulness comes from me.


Then Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned, for I did not know that you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now therefore, if it is displeasing to you, I will return home.”
