Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”


You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.


Or why was I not buried like a stillborn child, like an infant that never sees the light?


“Why is light given to one in misery, and life to the bitter in soul,


Let the stars of its dawn be dark; let it hope for light, but have none; may it not see the eyelids of the morning—


to spare their souls from the Pit, their lives from traversing the River.


so that their lives loathe bread, and their appetites dainty food.


Their souls draw near the Pit, and their lives to those who bring death.


and he is gracious to that person, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down into the Pit; I have found a ransom;


who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
