Ahab summoned Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace. (Now Obadiah revered the Lord greatly;


There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.


“But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?


“Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding?


then he saw it and declared it; he established it, and searched it out.


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.


Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.


He who disciplines the nations, he who teaches knowledge to humankind, does he not chastise?


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.


The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, so that one may avoid the snares of death.


The wise are cautious and turn away from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is careless.


The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their way preserve their lives.


By loyalty and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one avoids evil.
