The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and the obedience of the peoples is his.


But mortals die, and are laid low; humans expire, and where are they?


that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless is but for a moment?


that the wicked are spared in the day of calamity, and are rescued in the day of wrath?


They are exalted a little while, and then are gone; they wither and fade like the mallow; they are cut off like the heads of grain.


I know that you will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.


Why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For now I shall lie in the earth; you will seek me, but I shall not be.”


The eye that beholds me will see me no more; while your eyes are upon me, I shall be gone.


Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”


Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!


Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to desist.


When your eyes light upon it, it is gone; for suddenly it takes wings to itself, flying like an eagle toward heaven.
