See, he will kill me; I have no hope; but I will defend my ways to his face.


the waters wear away the stones; the torrents wash away the soil of the earth; so you destroy the hope of mortals.


He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone, he has uprooted my hope like a tree.


Is not your fear of God your confidence, and the integrity of your ways your hope?


What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should be patient?


My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and come to their end without hope.


I said: In the noontide of my days I must depart; I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years.


so I say, “Gone is my glory, and all that I had hoped for from the Lord.”


Then he said to me, “Mortal, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely.’
