He burned the house of the Lord, the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.


And regarding this house, now exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished, and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this house?’


He abandoned his dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mortals,


Our holy and beautiful house, where our ancestors praised you, has been burned by fire, and all our pleasant places have become ruins.


I have forsaken my house, I have abandoned my heritage; I have given the beloved of my heart into the hands of her enemies.


therefore, I will surely lift you up and cast you away from my presence, you and the city that I gave to you and your ancestors.


“Micah of Moresheth, who prophesied during the days of King Hezekiah of Judah, said to all the people of Judah: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height.’

Go now to my place that was in Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.


Do not trust in these deceptive words: “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.”


The Lord has scorned his altar, disowned his sanctuary; he has delivered into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; a clamor was raised in the house of the Lord as on a day of festival.


How the gold has grown dim, how the pure gold is changed! The sacred stones lie scattered at the head of every street.


You have gone the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand.


Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and your heart's desire; and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.


But you shall seek the place that the Lord your God will choose out of all your tribes as his habitation to put his name there. You shall go there,


It shall besiege you in all your towns until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout your land; it shall besiege you in all your towns throughout the land that the Lord your God has given you.
