Dibon has gone up to the temple, to the high places to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. On every head is baldness, every beard is shorn;


My heart cries out for Moab; his fugitives flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping; on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of destruction;


For a cry has gone around the land of Moab; the wailing reaches to Eglaim, the wailing reaches to Beer-elim.


Therefore I said: Look away from me, let me weep bitter tears; do not try to comfort me for the destruction of my beloved people.


Let that man be like the cities that the Lord overthrew without pity; let him hear a cry in the morning and an alarm at noon,


Thus says the Lord: See, waters are rising out of the north and shall become an overflowing torrent; they shall overflow the land and all that fills it, the city and those who live in it. People shall cry out, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.


Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; as far as Jahaz they utter their voice, from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah. For even the waters of Nimrim have become desolate.


“Moab is destroyed!” her little ones cry out.


For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping bitterly; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distressing cry of anguish.


Listen!—a cry from Babylon! A great crashing from the land of the Chaldeans!
