This is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning him: ‘She despises you, she scorns you— virgin daughter Zion; she tosses her head—behind your back, daughter Jerusalem.


Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.


You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,


Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem,


For God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah; and his servants shall live there and possess it;


But the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel, and will set them in their own land; and aliens will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob.


And every stroke of the staff of punishment that the Lord lays upon him will be to the sound of timbrels and lyres; battling with brandished arm he will fight with him.


this is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning him: ‘She despises you, she scorns you— virgin daughter Zion; she tosses her head—behind your back, daughter Jerusalem.


See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”


You shall say to them this word: Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease, for the virgin daughter—my people—is struck down with a crushing blow, with a very grievous wound.


Therefore thus says the Lord: Ask among the nations: Who has heard the like of this? The virgin Israel has done a most horrible thing.


I will set my eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up, and not tear them down; I will plant them, and not pluck them up.


Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.


Set up road markers for yourself, make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities.


The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when the city shall be rebuilt for the Lord from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.


I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and rebuild them as they were at first.


Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter Egypt! In vain you have used many medicines; there is no healing for you.


The Lord has rejected all my warriors in the midst of me; he proclaimed a time against me to crush my young men; the Lord has trodden as in a wine press the virgin daughter Judah.


What can I say for you, to what compare you, O daughter Jerusalem? To what can I liken you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter Zion? For vast as the sea is your ruin; who can heal you?


Fallen, no more to rise, is maiden Israel; forsaken on her land, with no one to raise her up.


On that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen, and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old;


And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;


‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the dwelling of David, which has fallen; from its ruins I will rebuild it, and I will set it up,


Then Jephthah came to his home at Mizpah; and there was his daughter coming out to meet him with timbrels and with dancing. She was his only child; he had no son or daughter except her.
